Kathmandu, July 28: Three persons including a woman and two of her infants were found dead in mysterious circumstances in a pond in the Sarlahi district of southeastern Nepal on Wednesday. The deceased have been identified as local Rikewa Devi Kaapad (26), her 18-month-old daughter and a nine-day-old son, informs SP Santosh Singh Rathor. The bodies were found in the pond near their house in Bhelhi, Brahmapur rural municipality-3 of the district.
The woman is learned to have left the house last night along with her infants. Locals spotted the bodies inside the private pond of local Suryabansha Chaudhary this morning and immediately informed the police. Rathor says the woman’s husband Sanjeev is also currently incommunicado and further investigation is underway.
The victim's mother Nagwati Devi lodged a complaint on July 6 against her daughter's in-laws on the charge of her daughter's and grandchildren's murder over the pretext of dowry. The complaint accuses the victim's 33-year-old husband Sanjiv Kapad, 55-year-old father-in-law Jageshwor Kapad, 33-year-old mother-in-law Ranudevi Kapad and 33-year-old brother-in-law Sanjiv Kapad. The in-laws are accused of abusing the victim, beating her, threatening to kill her and trying to evict her over the pretext of dowry.
