The Chitwan administration issued a curfew order after the protest demanding the arrest of Sujita Bhandari's killer intensified. A curfew order is issued from 7.30 of July 6 to 7.30 pm of July 7. According to the order, anyone who disobeys the order would be immediately arrested by security personnel and could face up to a month in prison or a fine, as well as both.
The body of Sujita Bhandari, a 23-year-old resident of Rapti Municipality-3 was found in the Bramhasthani Community Forest on June 25. Stating that Bhandari was killed, the locals have demanded an impartial investigation into the incident and arrest of the culprit. There was a scuffle when the police opened the road blocked by the locals. Police fired tear gas to control the crowd, whereas protesters vandalized a truck (Na 4 Kha 2149).
The curfew is extended till 7 pm of July 8
